Welcome to the Orthopaedic Associates' Scoliosis and Spine Center, the
Mid-Atlantic's leading center of excellence for the care and treatment
of disorders of the spine and neck. Our mission is to deliver quality
patient care to improve the quality of life for patients with spinal
problems. The Scoliosis and Spine Center offers a team of fellowship-trained and internationally-recognized medical professionals
who treat more than 10,000 patients with spinal disorders each year. Please click here for more information about our program.
Unique Patient Education Program
The
Scoliosis and Spine Center places special emphasis on educating and
guiding patients and their families through all aspects of treatment.
Our unique Clinical Case Management system features full-time
registered nurses who prepare patients and their families for every
step of a particular treatment pathway, operative or non-operative.
This continuum of care, which begins with our physicians, results in
more effective communication and completely prepares patients for their
treatment and recovery. It is not uncommon for our patients to comment
"You are the first doctor to spend so much time with me." Surgical and Non-Surgical Treatment Approaches
Patients
travel to our Center from all over the world because of our reputation
for treating all aspects of spine problems, surgical and non-surgical.
Treatment programs are individualized, and while each surgeon at The
Scoliosis and Spine Center is considered a craftsman in the most
advanced spine procedures and techniques, we only prescribe to our
patients what they need and what is appropriate, not what is in vogue. Our Center features a certified nurse practitioner who specializes in non-operative spine care and who works closely with
our surgeons providing expert spine problem management.
Motion Preservation
Motion
is life, and life is motion. Most of our patients do not want to have a
fusion if another option is available. The Spine and Scoliosis Center
is world renowned for the development and research into disk
replacement procedures and flexible rods which preserve motion. These
are usually part of FDA prospective investigational studies. We have
participated in clinical research in the development of cervical disk
replacement, lumbar disk replacement, and posterior flexible rod
systems. Patients are enrolled according to strict US FDA guidelines as
part of nationwide studies which are listed on the website - www.spine-health.com. We cannot promote or recruit patients for these studies but we can
provide educational materials to patients on an individual basis if you qualify.
